Hitachi Cable Optical Interconnect HDMI cable is an intelligent signal cable that converts electrical signals from HDMI ports to optical signal for faster and better transmission via optical cables. The signals are converted back to electrical signals at the other end of the cable, resulting in a low loss high definition signal transmission that surpasses traditional copper HDMI cables.

The fibre-optical cable allows for better transmission cables over medium distances (20 to 50 m) than traditional copper HDMI cable. The built in convertor at both ends of the cable is both convenient and unobtrusive, allowing greater portability and convenience than traditional signal convertor hubs that convert electrical to optical signals.
